Choosing a Venue – Short List

THE SHORT LIST (in no particular order)

The Woodhouse– 37 Spring Gully Rd, Piccadilly

Owned by the Scouts. Great venue for the right function. You hire the whole place for a weekend, set up Friday night, wedding Saturday, everyone stays in the 60 bed house, breakfast and clean up Sunday – and done!

Venue only, bring in own marquee, chairs, tables, decorations, caterers etc.

AlRu Farm– One Tree Hill Rd, One Tree Hill

Stunning gardens and barn. Love love love the the mirrors in the barn.

Lovely owner organises caterers and allow free BYO – great touch.

Monarto Zoo– Princes Highway Monarto

Good food options, nice setting, a little far away.

You get to feed the giraffes!  Seriously, I almost booked it then and there.

Howard Vineyard– Lot 1 Bald Hills Rd, Nairne

Lovely small vineyard in Nairne. Great location for us.

Utopia @ Waterfall Gully

The weddings packages look great. Some of the rooms are gorgeous and nice garden setting.

Adelaide Sailing Club– 9 Barcoo Rd West Beach

Had to throw one beach option into the mix

Some great catering ideas. Love the roaming entree idea (stand up canapes for entree, then sit down dinner) and the shared platters.  Lovely view.

Saltram WineryAngaston Rd, Angaston

A little further out than we started looking, but a lovely location.

Rustic rooms with conveniences and a helpful coordinator.  Beautiful setting.

Lyndoch Hill

Stunning restaurant building. A good compromise on distance.

Adelaide Zoo

The animals are there. Central location.

Majestic Rooftop Garden Hotel

The only city hotel to make the shortlist. Small function area so no other functions at the same time.  Too small for a dance floor.
